Our friend, mentor, Teacher-on-Call, and retired shop teacher, Graeme McFadyen, passed away in Spring 2018. Two students, L.M. and D.S. found a partially-completed bowl that Graeme had been working on, finished it, and wood-burned a memoriam by hand. This bowl will be on display in our shop to commemorate Mr. McFadyen, and all that he has done for the Comox Valley community over the past several decades. R.I.P.
I’m always excited to facilitate skilled students bringing in their own ideas! Featured here are projects by Grade 10 students: rolling pins and a game by J.L., as well as a stick-shift knob by J.T. (Engraving was done outside of Highland). Excellent work!
A few wood lathe projects from last Spring, made by some of our keener Grade 8 students! First photo is a foot massager made as an early Mother’s Day gift by S.B., and the stylish fish-bonker was made by C.H. for a Father’s Day present (wood-burning and design all done by hand). Great work, folks!
