Incredible, unique pieces done by Woodwork 9/10 students in Spring 2018. Students were given a theme, and chose their dimensions, design, detail, and wood species. Great work, everyone!
Great work by L.M. in Spring 2018 – wow! Laminated poplar and purpleheart, and all turned, sanded, and finished by hand.
Our friend, mentor, Teacher-on-Call, and retired shop teacher, Graeme McFadyen, passed away in Spring 2018. Two students, L.M. and D.S. found a partially-completed bowl that Graeme had been working on, finished it, and wood-burned a memoriam by hand. This bowl will be on display in our shop to commemorate Mr. McFadyen, and all that he has done for the Comox Valley community over the past several decades. R.I.P.
In Spring 2018, we had a professional jeweller and college instructor, Cheryl Jacobs, come into our class to talk about local advanced education and entrepreneurship in jewelry-making (See the “Other Awesome Resources” section on this website to view her work). Cheryl shared new skills with us, and worked with students in both Junior and Senior Jewelry. Pictured here are a variety of cuffs designed by students – these projects incorporated leather work, riveting, and texturing and tempering metal.
Very creative self-directed “drunken cutting board” done by JV in Spring 2018. Lots of work and patience went into this inaugural project – great job!
