For a lot of Jewelry/Metalwork 9/10 students, the STP is their first foray into working with steel. This project gets everyone acquainted with cutting and drilling through steel, as well as using the belt sander, tempering colors with the oxyacetylene torch, and engraving a design of their choice. Fantastic work, y’all!
B.M. in Grade 10 loved our Steel Tempered Pendant and decided to create a nameplate for her family’s business. This turned out so great!
Students design their pendant/keychain, cut and shape 1/8″ steel by hand, temper it with an oxyacetylene torch, then engrave their chosen image onto the piece. Each piece is distinct, and they look great!
